Grok Bot with Claude Opus 5.5: why it's our preferred agent over Muse and Dots
On October 7, 2026, Elon Musk announced that Grok Bot will hand each task to the best available model, Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 included. That tips our preference among the three personal agents launched in August and September. Here are our criteria, a fair comparison and the caveats that remain.
As of October 8, 2026, Grok Bot is the personal AI agent we prefer for companies, ahead of Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots. It is not tied to one lab: on October 7 it was announced to route work to Claude Opus 5.5, first on the Artificial Analysis index. It already offers shared Bots in Slack with Teams and Enterprise controls, and its app is sold in Colombia and France, while Muse is limited to the US and Canada.
The caveats are real: no published routing rules, no model picker, key controls reserved for Enterprise and computers located in the United States. Dots has richer integrations and finer controls; Muse has more reach. This position rests on public documentation, press reports and independent leaderboards, not on a benchmark of our own; we will revisit it once the routing is documented.
Why is Grok Bot our preferred agent?
Because it comes out ahead on the four criteria we weigh for a company, even with the caveats below. We compared the three always-on personal agents launched between August and September 2026:
- Model: access to several providers instead of one lab, with Claude Opus 5.5 announced on October 7.
- Teams: shared Team Bots in Slack since September 26; Enterprise access since September 3, with audit logs, network policy and SCIM; and ISO/IEC 27001 and 42001 certifications whose scope includes Grok Bot, according to Cursor.
- Availability: offered in Colombia and France; Dots also qualifies through its business plans, Muse does not.
- Data: no training on customer data when Privacy Mode is on, and model providers bound by zero-retention agreements.
This is Slash's editorial position, based on public documentation and press reports, not on lab tests. If you are planning AI agents for companies, use it as the starting point for a pilot, not as a verdict.
What did Musk announce on October 7, and what is confirmed?
A change of engine, partly live and not yet documented. On October 7, Musk posted on X that SpaceX "will use the best back end model for any given task", naming Claude Opus 5.5, Midjourney, Suno and other leading APIs, without saying which task goes where.
The same day, 9to5Mac reported that Grok Bot could already use Opus 5.5, and a Grok Bot team member wrote that the model was rolling out and would power all Bots. Midjourney and Suno have no date. The official changelog (version 0.68.1, October 7) does not mention it, and the security documentation still says there is no customer-facing model picker and that the provider mix can change.
For context: Grok Bot comes from SpaceXAI, the former xAI absorbed by SpaceX (Musk says it will be renamed SpaceXSI), and runs on infrastructure from Cursor, also owned by SpaceX. It launched in beta on August 11, 2026, Bloomberg counted about 418,000 weekly users in mid-September (as cited by tbreak) and users reported brief outages of Grok services on October 6, with no official explanation.
Opus 5.5 in Grok Bot is a reported rollout, not a documented feature: no routing rules, no list of which task uses which model and no date for Midjourney or Suno. Our preference depends on that routing being documented.
How do Grok Bot, Muse and Dots compare?
All three promise an agent with its own cloud computer that keeps working while you are away and asks before sensitive actions. The differences lie in the models, the channels, the markets and the data terms.
| Criterion | Grok Bot | Muse | Dots |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maker and launch | SpaceXAI, beta launched Aug 11, 2026 | Meta, Sept 8, 2026 | OpenAI, Sept 29, 2026 |
| Models | xAI and third-party models; Opus 5.5 announced Oct 7; no picker | Muse Spark | GPT-6 Astra |
| Where it runs | One cloud computer per user, shared by their Bots, in the US | Dedicated VM per person; a Sentinel agent filters outbound traffic | Its own cloud computer; laptop access optional, off by default |
| Channels and apps | Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Slack; Gmail, Outlook, GitHub | Muse app and WhatsApp; Slack, Shopify, QuickBooks and more | ChatGPT, Slack, Teams; 4,000+ apps via plugins |
| Availability | No country list; app listed in Colombia and France | US and Canada | Pro outside the EEA, Switzerland and UK; Business Premium in all ChatGPT regions; Enterprise beta |
| Plans | Included in paid Cursor and SuperGrok plans | Free for most uses, paid plans for more | First dot included in Pro and Business Premium |
| Training on your data | No, with Privacy Mode on | Yes, unless you opt out | No by default on Business, Enterprise and Edu |
| Controls | Auto Review; audit logs and network policy on Enterprise only | Approvals, full action log, hidden credentials | Custom Rules, Activity View, auto-review |
| Reported usage | About 418,000 weekly users | 3 million+ weekly users | Not disclosed |
On price, Grok Bot has no standalone plan: Cursor lists Pro from $20 a month and Teams at $40 per user, before taxes, with weekly usage limits. OpenAI has not yet priced additional dots.
Why does model routing matter so much to us?
Because the best model changes faster than an agent contract. On October 8, Claude Opus 5.5 (released on September 22 at $4 / $20 per million tokens) led the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, which aggregates agentic and knowledge-work evaluations, ahead of the models behind Dots and Muse.
| Model | Used by | Score |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Opus 5.5 | Grok Bot (announced) | 58 (1st) |
| GPT-6 Astra | Dots | 53 |
| Muse Spark 1.3 | Muse | 48 |
| Grok 4.7 | Grok Bot (SpaceXAI model) | 46 |
On Arena's text leaderboard, Opus 5.5 was second that day (1,507 points), behind a preliminary Gemini 4 Argon entry: leadership depends on the test, as we explain in our Claude Opus 5.5 analysis and our GPT-6 Astra analysis.
The second argument is resilience. On June 12, 2026, a US export-control directive forced Anthropic to withdraw Fable 5 and Mythos 5 from all users; Fable 5 came back 19 days later. An agent tied to one lab inherits that kind of outage. The price of routing is control: Grok Bot, not you, decides which provider sees each request, and Anthropic is also a SpaceX compute customer.
Where are Dots and Muse stronger?
Dots has the widest catalog (more than 4,000 apps through OpenAI's plugins) and the most granular documented controls: Custom Rules that let a dot act, act if pre-approved, ask first or hand off to you; an Activity View; and read-only tools for its background research. Business Premium is available in every supported ChatGPT region, Europe included, and OpenAI does not train on business workspace content by default. Its limits: a single model provider and the exclusion of Pro users in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK.
Muse has reach: more than 3 million weekly users according to internal data reviewed by The Information, and it lives inside WhatsApp. On paper its design is strong: a dedicated VM per person, a separate Sentinel agent that must approve anything going out to the internet, credentials kept out of the model's sight and a full audit trail. Its limits: it is only available in the US and Canada, it trains on interactions unless you opt out, and a researcher found a critical flaw soon after launch, which Meta fixed immediately.
What risks do we still see in Grok Bot?
Real ones. An agent that reads email, calendars and files brings together private data, untrusted content and a way to send data out; any message it reads can carry hidden instructions (see prompt injection and agent security). The damage is not theoretical: in February 2026, an OpenClaw agent bulk-deleted a researcher's inbox and ignored stop commands (AI agents in production). Specific to Grok Bot:
- All of one user's Bots share the same computer, files and sessions; Cursor advises a separate user for workloads that need their own credentials.
- Audit logs, network policy and action recording are Enterprise-only; without a policy, outbound traffic is allowed.
- There is no model picker, your company's model allowlist is not guaranteed to apply, and SpaceXAI has not said how the newly named providers fit its data terms.
- Secrets and files added to a Team Bot are available in every teammate's chat.
- In August, Adversa AI disclosed an injection that leaked chat history from Grok's web chat, a different product; it was still unfixed more than two months after the report.
What does it mean for companies in Colombia and Europe?
Access. On October 8, the Grok Bot iPhone app was listed in the Colombian App Store and the French one, with plans in pesos and euros; SpaceXAI publishes no country list. Dots reaches Pro and Business Premium users in Colombia, and European companies through Business Premium or the Enterprise beta. Muse is available in neither region.
Data. Grok Bot's computers run in the United States and on-premises deployment is not supported. In Colombia, sending personal data there is an international transfer under Law 1581 of 2012; in the European Union, the GDPR transfer rules apply. Ask for the DPA and the list of model subprocessors before connecting work accounts.
For a team in Bogotá, Madrid or Paris: start Grok Bot on low-risk work (research, drafts, internal reporting) with an account that holds no customer data, and keep Dots on the shortlist if you already work on ChatGPT Business.
How do you pilot a personal agent without exposing your company?
- Choose two or three low-risk tasks and define success before you start.
- Use a dedicated account with non-sensitive data, never an executive's inbox.
- Grant least privilege: read-only where possible, approval for anything that sends, buys or deletes.
- Turn on Privacy Mode at team level and keep customer data out.
- On Enterprise, set a network policy, turn on action recording and stream audit logs to your SIEM from day one.
- Write a usage policy: what can be connected, who approves and how incidents are reported (see our AI usage policy guide).
- After 30 days, review errors, approvals, cost and quality, then decide.
We will revisit this position when SpaceXAI documents its routing, when Dots reaches Pro users in Europe or when Muse launches outside North America.
Key takeaways
- As of October 8, 2026, Grok Bot is our preferred personal agent for companies, ahead of Muse and Dots.
- The main reason is routing to Claude Opus 5.5, first on the Artificial Analysis index, announced on October 7.
- That routing is a reported rollout, with no published rules and no model picker.
- Dots leads on integrations and controls, Muse on reach; Muse is limited to the US and Canada.
- Pilot with non-sensitive data, least privilege, Enterprise controls and a written usage policy.

The questions we hear often
Does Grok Bot already use Claude Opus 5.5?
Partly, by all reports. Musk announced the change on October 7, 2026, 9to5Mac reported that day that Grok Bot could already use Opus 5.5 and a team member said it would power all Bots. SpaceXAI has published no routing rules, and customers cannot choose the model.
Is Grok Bot available in Colombia and Europe?
Its iPhone app was listed in the Colombian and French App Stores on October 8, 2026, but SpaceXAI publishes no country list. The Bots' computers run in the United States, so check international transfer rules before connecting personal data.
How much does Grok Bot cost?
There is no standalone plan. It is included in paid Cursor plans (Pro from $20 a month, Teams at $40 per user a month, before taxes) and in linked SuperGrok plans, with weekly usage and optional on-demand billing.
Do these agents train on my data?
Muse does unless you opt out, according to Meta. OpenAI does not train on Business, Enterprise or Edu content by default. For Grok Bot, Cursor says customer data is not used for training when Privacy Mode is on.
What is this preference based on?
On public documentation, press reports and independent leaderboards as of October 8, 2026, not on a published benchmark of our own. It will change if the facts do. Any agent should be tested on your own tasks before wider use.
