slash.events · Panel Studio

From a website to a trade-show panel your printer will accept

Panel Studio reads a company's website, proposes four panel designs, lets the exhibitor edit them in plain language and delivers a checked PDF/X-4 print file and a marketing kit after one payment of €49.

From the landing page to the editor: format, website analysis, four concepts, two chat edits, print checks and the stand view. Rule-based mode, no AI key.
In short

Panel Studio is the slash.events web app for trade-show exhibitors. It builds artwork for a 100 × 100 cm rigid panel or a 100 × 200 cm textile from the exhibitor's website, renders a PDF/X-4 file and runs 23 preflight checks on it before delivery. Organizers get an event page and an exhibitor table; we run orders and production from an operator console. The price in the current settings is €49 per artwork.

The context

Small exhibitors, strict printers

Before a show, a small exhibitor needs two things: a panel that looks professional, and a file the printer accepts, with the right bleed, safe areas, image resolution, ICC profile and a QR code that scans. An image generator covers the first at best. Our research brief for the product described something else: an AI art director connected to a structured design engine and a print-production pipeline.

Organizers are the second audience. Each show gets its own event page with the allowed formats and printer profiles, an invite link and a deadline, after which the event refuses new artworks and approvals.

Design and build

Design engine first, AI on top

Every design is structured data measured in millimetres, never a flat image. Fourteen layout strategies compose the panel from the brand board that the website analysis produces: logo candidates, palette roles, fonts matched to the closest open-licence font, a description and copy ideas. The exhibitor confirms each suggestion before it is used.

AI sits on top of that engine. With an OpenAI key, gpt-6-luna proposes concepts, copy and an art director review that looks at the rendered panel, and gpt-image-2 generates imagery, tagged with IPTC/XMP metadata for AI-generated media (EU AI Act, article 50). Without a key, every feature falls back to rules, and the screens on this page were captured that way.

Production is a pipeline: integrity check, images, PDF/X-4 render with pdfkit, preflight, delivery. In our desktop test it took about 10 to 15 seconds from payment to files; on the Synology NAS that hosts it, about a minute.

  1. 01

Chat edits that refuse what won't print

The studio assistant applied "make the headline bigger and the background navy" and listed each change. Asked to move the QR code to eye level, it replied that it could not apply the change without breaking a print rule.

  2. 02

23 checks on the real PDF

Preflight reads the delivered PDF: PDF/X-4 identification, trim and bleed, embedded fonts, ICC output intent, total ink coverage, logo resolution and a QR code decoded from the file. Our demo order passed 17, with 2 warnings, 3 notes and 1 check skipped on a PC without poppler.

  3. 03

    Five printer profiles

UV-printed rigid board, wall standoffs, stretch fabric, SEG and pole pocket, with FOGRA39, 51 or 52 output intents. A printer's own spec can be uploaded as PDF, DOCX or TXT; each value extracted from it shows its source quote and a confidence level.

  4. 04

A marketing kit with the file

    The order also delivers a 1920 × 1080 stand mockup, a 1080 × 1080 social post and a 1200 × 627 link preview, all made from the approved artwork.

Outcomes

Deployed and tested, no sales figures yet

Panel Studio was deployed on 19 October 2026 on a Synology NAS, in Docker, behind a temporary Cloudflare address. That day it passed 25 of 25 API edge checks (SSRF, hostile SVG, CSRF, access control, checkout guards) and a full production run with 24 preflight checks.

The engine test runs 19 unusual inputs through 2 formats and 13 layouts. Stripe checkout is built in, but we have no sales figures to report yet.

  • About 34,400 lines of TypeScript and JavaScript
  • Interface in English and French
  • 57 bundled open-licence font files
  • Data export and deletion from the customer's account
Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear often

What file does a printer need for a trade-show panel?

For a 100 × 200 cm stretch-fabric panel, Panel Studio delivers a PDF/X-4 with a FOGRA39 output intent, 10 mm of bleed, a 50 mm safe inset, a 150 ppi minimum and embedded fonts. Each of those points is checked in the PDF before delivery.

Can AI design a trade-show booth graphic?

It can propose one, and that is how Panel Studio uses it: the AI art director suggests four directions and copy, while a rule-based engine places every element in millimetres and repairs contrast, overlaps and QR obstruction. Every feature also works without AI, using rules.

How much does a panel cost?

Previews are free and no account is needed to start. You pay for the production file: €49 per artwork in the current settings, including the PDF/X-4, the preflight report and the marketing kit.

Which sizes are supported?

Two: a 100 × 100 cm rigid panel and a 100 × 200 cm textile. Five printer profiles cover UV board, wall standoffs, stretch fabric, SEG and pole pocket, and a printer's own spec can be uploaded.
